Travel to Lake Kari to Mount Aragats
Lake Kari
Lake Kari, or as it is also called Karigol, is located on the slope of Mount Aragats near the southern peak of Aragats at an altitude of approximately 3,200 meters above sea level. The depth here is about 9 meters, and the area of the lake is 0.12 km².Lake Kari translated from Armenian means “stone lake”; this natural attraction received this nickname due to its rocky shore. The lake is of glacial origin, so the water here is quite cool. It is unlikely that anyone will want to swim even on the hottest day, although this is quite possible.
Lake Kari Lich is one of the locals’ favorite places for summer holidays. People come here to escape the heat and also to eat the traditional dish khash (I’ll tell you about it a little later). They say trout is found here, and they are even grown artificially.
The best time to relax on Lake Kari is from June to September; in the summer there is a cafe and a recreation area, but in winter and spring the lake is cold, there is a lot of snow and everything is closed. You can visit these amazing places and many other places by renting sedans, SUVs and minivans from our fleet Greenroad.rent car rental in Armenia

Khash on Mount Aragats
Near Lake Kari at the foot of Aragats you can taste a traditional Armenian dish - khash. You simply have to try it at least once; you can order khash in a cafe by the lake. Traditionally, this soup was considered a poor man's food, but today it is extremely popular.
What is khash? Classic khash is a hot and very satisfying soup made from beef hooves, drumsticks and stomach. In addition, a lot of herbs and garlic are added to the soup, and pita bread and cheese are also served with the soup. It is recommended to drink khash with hot green tea or cold vodka. It is believed that khash has a sobering effect and many other beneficial properties.
Mount Aragats anomaly
Many people come to Lake Kari and Aragats not only to relax and enjoy nature; tourists are attracted here by the mystical nature of these places. For those who don’t know, at the foot of Mount Aragats there is an interesting anomalous zone; it manifests itself most clearly on the mountain road halfway to the lake. What is the essence of the Aragats anomaly? The usual laws of physics do not apply here. For example, a mountain river flows here from bottom to top, and not vice versa. People even experimented - they took an ordinary bottle of water and rolled it down, but the bottle made a few turns, stopped and rolled back up at a slope of 20 degrees.
