Zvartnots is a church in honor of St. Gregory the Illuminator, a monument of Armenian architecture of the 7th century.
In 2000, the ruins of the temple and the archaeological area around it were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The word "Zvartnots" translated from ancient Armenian means "Temple of Vigilant Angels". Zvartnots is a grandiose Christian temple, built in the 5th century and destroyed three centuries later, probably as a result of an earthquake.
